Artist McKenzie’s Original Art featured at the City Wealth Awards held at the Hotel Bel-air hosted by Robin Leach
December 13, 2006, Beverly Hills, Ca: Artist McKenzie, known for her unique painting style coined, “Alluvious Chromatism” was a featured artist at the black tie event honoring the, most highly respected wealth managers in the USA.
The wealth awards, hosted by Robin Leach of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, was an unprecedented event with the highest net worth VIPs, most influential wealth managers and private advisors from around the United States. In attendance were those advisors whose clients comprise the highest net worth individuals in America.
Artist McKenzie was asked to display a unique 48” x 48” piece entitled, “Efflorescence” to the prestigious crowd. McKenzie is the recent recipient of the ARTV Award for Mixed Media. Her original paintings have increased in value over 200% in less than 5 years. “Art is a very important part of an investment portfolio,” says J.P. Kipper financial consultant.
“The blooming rose represents the maturing of wise investments. If you study the seemingly abstract background you will the subliminal images (i.e. children, homes, etc.) These images represent the benefits to one’s life from these wise financial choices,” says Steven Rice, the Artist’s manager.
The booming art market has a new generation of buyers has coming into the market, driving up prices for modern and contemporary artwork while making headlines in the process. Accompanying the excitement and record prices is the burgeoning idea of art as a form of investment.
ARTnews magazine provided a gauge for the popularity of contemporary art by tracking “The Ten Most Expensive Living Artists”. All of the artists have achieved single-work sales of $5 million or more, while some have multiplied that figure many times over. The article went on to note that records set at auction could be trumped by the prices fetched through private sales of an artist’s work
Prices for the art at the event ranged from the low tens of thousands of dollars to $1.2 million.
