Learn how today’s industry-standard systems are providing a cost-effective approach to the world’s most demanding problems.

CHICAGO, IL (December 12, 2006) – On December 20, 2006, scale-up Linux experts will come together in an interactive online event to examine the present and future of large scale-up Linux systems and to determine whether they are ready to meet the demands of today’s most challenging applications. Scientific Computing magazine announced today that it will present this live, one-hour e-broadcast, “Scale-up Linux Goes Mainstream,” free-of-charge at ScientificComputing.com/Linux

Expert panelists will include
* John Connolly, director of the Kentucky Center for Computational Sciences;
* Gary Skouson, a senior research scientist at the William R. Wiley Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory's Molecular Science Computing Facility (MSCF) located at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL); and
* Karthik Prabhakar, the technology architect with Hewlett-Packard's Open Source and Linux team.

The streaming audio and video Webcast will take place from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. ET and will include a live, interactive question and answer session in addition to presentations from the three panelists, providing a powerful and highly interactive forum to learn about the latest developments in scale-up Linux technologies. Initially broadcast live, the event also will be available on-demand for six months. Registration is now open at ScientificComputing.com/Linux

“This presentation’s engaging media format will deliver relevant, topical content while at the same time providing an excellent free educational opportunity,” said Suzanne Tracy, Editor in Chief of Scientific Computing magazine, and the event’s moderator. “Through streaming video/audio, live Q&A and advanced polling capabilities, participants have the opportunity to watch, listen to and interact with the panelists as they discuss new solutions, best practices and actual case studies – all in real-time.”
