Museum quality landscape and architectural photographs by Lena Johnson will be sold at silent auction to benefit Idaho Votes No Campaign to defeat Amendment HJR2.

Piazza di Vino Art Gallery and Wine Bar is hosting a Silent Auction and Fundraiser on October 27 to benefit the Idaho Votes No organization which opposes Amendment HJR2. At auction will be twelve fine art photographs by Lena Johnson who will donate 50% of her profits from the sale to IVN. “I became involved with Idaho Votes No because I am opposed to the social injustice that the passage of Amendment HJR2 will bring to ALL unmarried couples regardless of sexual orientation. This amendment will hurt so many families and children and I encourage everyone to vote NO for HJR2,” states Lena Johnson. The auction and program will begin at 6:00 pm at Piazza di Vino at 212 N 9th St in downtown Boise and the public is invited to attend. Lena’s fine art photographs can be seen at http://www.LenaJohnsonStudio.com website.

The program will begin at 6pm with speaker Michael Mitchell, Marriage Campaign Manager for the ACLU’s Lesbian Gay Bisexual & Transgender Project based in New York City. Mitchell has nearly two decades of experience as a community activist, especially around LGBT and HIV/AIDS issues. In 2003, he was given the “Voice of Reason Award” by the Salt Lake County Democratic Party for his role as spokesperson for democratic and progressive issues. Mitchell joined the ACLU in June 2005 after having spent four years as executive director of Equality Utah, the state’s LGBT political advocacy group. He was a senior advisor to Donald Dunn’s 2000 run for Congress in Utah. Representatives from Idaho Votes No will be on hand to answer questions about Amendment HJR2 that will come before the voters on November 7th. Idaho Votes No is a coalition of individual Idahoans and non-profit organizations dedicated to stopping the proposed Idaho constitutional ban on gay marriage and civil unions or domestic partnerships of any kind, including those between heterosexual couples.
