There Is Just One Week Left To Enter The First Ever Data Driven Song Contest Sponsored By Music And Technology Site Hypebot.com

Hypebot.com, a leading music industry and technology site, has written the first ever data-driven hit song lyrics and is hosting a contest for indie artists to add music and compete for a chance to win over $5,000 in prizes.

Inspired by the work of Jay Frank, the author of Future Hit.DNA and SVP of Strategy at CMT, Hypebot editor Kyle Bylin crafted lyrics using only words and phrases from the Top 50 hit songs of 2010. Now musicians from around the globe are writing music to create the first ever data driven hit song. Fans can vote for their favorite song throughout the contest which has an entry deadline of September 7th, 2010.

he grand prize, valued at over $3,500, consists of a free class at Berkleemusic, the online music and industry school; an exclusive online marketing presence analysis and case study performed by the staff at the indie music marketing hub ReverbNation; a "hit song-analysis" performed by Jay Frank; and personal consulting services from Bruce Houghton and Kyle Bylin, editors of Hypebot. Additional prizes include: a SoundCloud yearly Pro Plus account; a one-year Sonicbids Supersonic membership; a Music Power Network membership; $100 Berklee Press gift certificate; ReverbNation Press Kit for one year; Bandzoogle subscription for one year; and Tunecore will distribute album of the winner. Online audio platform SoundCloud is providing the technical infrastructure and backend needed to power the contest.

"We are excited to offer this opportunity to interact with our readers and give back to our growing community," says Hypebot editor Kyle Bylin. "With such an extensive prize package, we aim to empower the winning artists and provide the other entrants into the contest with actionable insight into how to better market their music and take control of their careers," added Hypebot founder and publisher Bruce Houghton.

To enter this free contest and learn more about the rules and prizes, musicians can visit this page ( http://www.hypebot.com/hypebot/2010/07/the-hypebot-hit-song-contest-enter-now.html ) to see the data driven lyrics and upload their creation onto the official SoundCloud page (http://hypebot.heroku.com). “Participants are encouraged to create the most stereotypical pop cover they can bear” says Bylin.
