Montreal immigration law firm Dery & Associates (Canadim) addresses the growing need in Canada for qualified skilled workers. With the aging population, the opportunity to live and work in Canada is expanding.

The growth in Canada's immigration needs is evident in the numbers. Canada took in more than 500,000 permanent and temporary residents in 2009, maintaining a historical high of immigration rate to support its economy, according to the preliminary data released by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) on Thursday. The data showed that Canada admitted 252,124 permanent residents in 2009, well within the government's planned range of 240,000 to 265,000 new permanent residents for the year, and about 30,000 higher than the average annual intake in the 1990s. An additional 178,640 temporary foreign workers and 85,131 foreign students came to Canada in 2009.

"The Government of Canada is maintaining immigration levels to meet Canada's short, medium and long-term economic needs, help offset our aging population and low birthrate, and sustain our workforce," said Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism. With the growing need to fill gaps within the Canadian work force, Canadim is seeing an influx of applications "Canada has an aging workforce and for the first time, the baby boomers are outnumbering this countries youth. We are in the position to help prospective immigrants achieve their permanent residency and integrate into this society." says Renaud Dery, Managing Partner.

Canada is very interested in accepting qualified skilled workers at this time. The Provincial Nominee Program encourages applications for permanent residence from skilled migrants and assists international entrepreneurs to invest in local businesses and settle. It is a way for newcomers to speed up the Canadian immigration process, as well as for provincial governments to target groups that meet specific labor needs.

"Canada is a diverse society with a booming economy, right now people have a great opportunity to capitalize and immigrate here. At Dery & Associates, each clients file is handled personally by an immigration lawyer and we also help the client integrate after his/her immigration is approved through our network of resources."
