Verdadism Exhibition and Artist Talk on Tolerance: For Educators and Their Students in New Jersey, New York City and Philadelphia.
Soraida, the creator of Verdadism and an advocate for social awareness and higher education, invites educators in New Jersey, New York City and Philadelphia to bring their students to the Verdadism Art Gallery, from February 12th to May 30th 2010, for an art exhibition and artist talk on tolerance in America.
Since 1992 Soraida has been speaking to students in schools, colleges and universities in order to promote hope and open minds by raising awareness of self-empowerment, a deeper understanding of the human soul and tolerance. Through her Verdadism paintings with social commentaries, Soraida addresses racism, sexism, stereotyping and other social issues. Teachers nationwide use Soraida’s Verdadism paintings to teach diversity as part of their school curriculum.
Soraida was chosen in 2008 and 2009 as one of the 15 most prominent Hispanic Americans in the arts shaping the U.S. cultural scene. Some of the paintings in this exhibition include: ©1993 What Prejudice Looks Like; ©1992 Interracial Family, The Way Society Sees It; ©1994 Please Stop Calling Us Minorities; We All Know That’s An Unfair Label with Negative Connotations; ©1995 Speaking To The Labeled Kids; ©1994 Feeling Inner Peace.
Admission is free, but by appointment only. Educators should contact the Verdadism Art Gallery, 220 South Berlin Road, Lindenwold-New Jersey, to schedule an exhibition time and date. For information, visit http://www.soraida.com/exhibit.htm or call 856-346-3131.
