Pledge envelopes are still available for people who would like to “Walk Along for Lupus” on
Sunday, October 15th, at Eisenhower Park, Field #6 in East Meadow, rain or shine.
October is Lupus Awareness month, and the Walk Along for Lupus is the Alliance’s biggest event of the year. All of the proceeds from the walk go towards continuing and expanding the many quality of life programs that the Alliance offers as well funding lupus research. Over 2,000 people are expected to attend, and are hoping to beat last years total of over $232,000. This year, all pre-registered teams who raise $300 or more before 9/25/06 will receive signs with their team name on them to display proudly as they walk, and all Teams will receive pre-packaged lunches for all members, that will be ready to go as soon as the team finishes the walk.
Information and sponsor forms as well as raffle tickets for the dollhouse can be obtained by calling 1-800-850-9000, or visit the website at www.lupusliqueens.org, and register and collect funds right online! The Alliance will also be collecting old and used cell phones at the walk, as part of their recycling fundraiser. Look for the collection boxes around the park and drop them in.
