Renowned music video director, John “Dr. Teeth” Tucker’s video for Ice Cream Paint Job is nominated for Video of the Year honors at the 2009 BET Hip Hop Awards. To celebrate their combined successes Tucker & Dorrough will host a red carpet event at Ultra Lounge 2026 in Dallas on September 24.
BET announced the nominations last week to Tucker’s delight, and he was more humbled than anything. “It’s great to be recognized for something I love to do, I’m so honored,” he explains. Ice Cream Paint Job is the second single for newcomer Dorrough, and has experienced a long shelf life on BET’s 106 & Park. The duo will celebrate their combined nominations in style, and is inviting the entire state to share in the accomplishments. “I’m very excited about the event, and continuing my working relationship with the artist and label.” Dr.Teeth just shot two new videos for the artist.
Dr. Teeth became a household name in 2005 for the epic visuals he provided for the emergence of the Houston Hip Hop scene onto the national stage. The imagery he created to display Houston Culture in Mike Jones’ debut single, Still Tippin, is just as famous as the artist who went on to sell two million albums. Prior to impacting the music industry as a director, Tucker enjoyed a productive career as an Executive Producer for BET. He helped to create cornerstone programming for the network including Rap City tha Basement and Spring Bling. As a director, Dr. Teeth has worked with the best including industry titans Lupe Fiasco, UGK, T.I., The Notorious B.I.G., and Paul Wall. Often imitated, but never duplicated, Dr. Teeth has been credited with inspiring an entire movement of younger video directors.
