ArcaMax Publishing has added seven new syndicated comic strips that include popular favorites "B.C.", "Heathcliff" and "Family Circus."
"We're very pleased to make these available to our readers for free. They're some of the most popular comic strips in newspapers today, and we're glad to make them even more accessible in the online world," said ArcaMax Publishing CEO Scott Wolf.
Through an arrangement with Creators.com, ArcaMax now offers "B.C", "The Wizard of Id", "Agnes", "The Dinette Set", "Heathcliff" and "Speed Bump." Through an arrangement with King Features, the popular "Family Circus" strip is now available.
Having the new comics "adds a bit of variety" to the current ArcaMax Funnies, Wolf said. "Garfield", "Doonesbury", "Baby Blues" and "Zits" continue to be some of the company's most popular publications. "Garfield", for example, has more than 600,000 e-mail subscribers, according to Wolf. The company naturally decided to expand in this area.
"People like to start their day with a laugh," Wolf said. "It's nice to find something like 'Family Circus' in your e-mail every morning -- it helps you get going for the day."
The Funnies page, which is also home to daily installments of family-friendly jokes and comic book updates, is available at http://www.arcamax.com/cgi-bin/news/channel/1001 .
ArcaMax visitors have the option of viewing daily installments on the ArcaMax Web site or receive them for free by e-mail. Many of the comics are delivered daily in color, and the site features a month's worth of archives for each, which allow readers to catch up on their favorites.
