"It's a great way to show the client how much you care," said a spokesperson for the website. "Instead of some knick-knack or flower arrangement, why not give them something that will be used to protect their family?"
While many homes in the U.S. already have smoke detectors, very few homes also have a carbon monoxide detector. According to the CDC, 500 Americans die from unintentional carbon monoxide poisoning each year.
"While doing a walkthrough with clients, it's always a good idea to note if the home has smoke or carbon monoxide detectors," the spokesperson continued. "If it doesn't, then it's something that the client should be made aware of."
