Sunday afternoon, Dianne Theil McNinch, Trustee Long Beach Community College, District Three, kicked off her campaign for reelection, at Claire’s Café located on the grounds of the Long Beach Museum of Art.
In her three terms, she has accomplished expansion of the nursing program by supporting the program being available nights and weekends. Also, she increased financial resources by introducing business partners to the Economic Development Department, which resulted in the funding of numerous grants. Ms. McNinch inspired the creation of the Good Beginnings Never Ends program, which addresses the needs of caretakers of preschool children in the 90813 zipcode.
When asked why she has chosen to run again, Dianne stated “I have a vision of where I want community college education to go and I have much more to do”.
“I will continue to the fight for equalization of funding throughout all California Community Colleges. It concerns me that a Long Beach Community College student is worth $300.00 less than a Los Angeles Community College student.” Also “I want to support the continued exploration of future workforce development needs. Workforce development provides students with the tools to earn a good living and also provides Long Beach area employers with a qualified workforce.”
Ms. McNinch appreciates the support of the community, those who value education and looks forward to another term.
The election will be held April 11, 2006
