Toronto, Canada – GAO Comm (www.GAOComm.com) has launched a Plug and Play Ethernet media converter used as a standalone unit or as a slide-in module to a 19-inch converter rack or a central wiring closet. It is compliant with the international network IEEE 802.3u standard. The media converter is designed to convert data signals between 10/100 Base-Tx and 100 Base-Fx fast Ethernet and extends the transmission distance limited by copper wire.
The Ethernet media converter, model 3305-1, with built-in remote diagnostic capability, uses a unique switch chip design. It easily connects fiber cable to twisted pair and supports both full-duplex and half-duplex communications. Broadcast filtering, including auto-learning and auto-update function, and a store-and-forward mechanism are available. Additionally, the converter boasts a 512kB SSRAM buffer and a 2k MAC address list and also provides optional fiber connectors: SC/PC and FC/PC.
