The internet portal WorldCountries.info announces the launch of the Travel Writer's Cafe. Journalists, travelers, and local residents alike can now publish their articles, photographs, news, and reviews under one roof.
Travel Writer's Cafe allows people around the world to tell their stories in their own words. Cafe founder Ron Mears is an admirer of the Teton Sioux chief, Frank Fools Crow, who once observed that "all honorable men are of the same tribe".
Says Mears, "I believe there is only one family of humankind. We hear and read about distant countries, but how much do we really know about other peoples and other lands? In most cases, very little, indeed."
"People want to tell their stories, and they're curious about each other. I think there's an awareness that we all live under the same moon and stars, and that they shine as brightly in Zimbabwe as they do over Mexico. WorldCountries.info is like a big house with a room for every country and indigenous people on Earth."
Initially, the cafe's feature articles are being filed under travel news and events, North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Australia/Oceania, book, music and movie reviews, and travel tips. New categories will be added as required.
Authors and photographers must register by email, and after producing three articles, they become "Trusted Writers" able to post without waiting for approval. The cafe's self-service interface allows the easy insertion of photos in multi-page articles. For the reader, the articles are easy to navigate, informative, and entertaining.
Current contributors include Fahd Newaz of the American International School of Dhaka, Bangladesh, Adeeb Rantawi of Atlas Tours in Amman, Jordan, and David Stanley of Pacific Pictures and Cuba Pictures.
Addressing prospective cafe users directly, Mears says, "I want to hear your story and learn about your country, so please contribute. The Travel Writer's Cafe will be a place where established travel writers can painlessly publish and promote their web sites, and where up and coming talent can get some recognition and a head start as a writer. Hopefully, our travel articles won't simply tell readers about a country - they'll take them there."
