With the aim of primarily gaining income to be used to aid one of the owners, who is disabled with an unknown brain condition, recieve the best treatment, PixelHeaven decided to follow in the footsteps of Alex Tew, inventor of the MillionDollarHomepage and Pixel advertising, and create their own page, but with a fundamental difference...
We should all have heard of Alex Tew or at least of this entrepreneur's idea of selling advertising space on a web page for a dollar a pixel on the MillionDollarHomepage. After Alex's unfounded success, as is always the way with such ventures, there is a common slap of foreheads and a thought of "why didn't I think of that?", to the now unfathomable number of similar sites cropping up almost overnight. All follow Alex's example, but most now have had to, due to the number of competitors, reduce the price of their adverising, some actually doing it for free. We at PixelHeaven Limited found that at the time there were very few sites in the UK! After taking a few days to create our own website we found that we were no longer in the "niche" market in the UK, so we had to fundamenally change our perspective for our site to stand out. Remember, most if not all of these sites sprung up overnight so that the owner of the website can reap the benefits, ie money. Most sites are there for pure profit, nothing more. The owners of these sites just want to "get rich quick". Yes you can say the same about us at PixelHeaven, but when you do have this in mind... One of the owners of this site, Sean Smith, has suffered from an undiagnosed brain condition for 5 years, and has been through the mill with tests and examinations. He has been treated for his condition in 3 hospitals, one of which just happens to be the best in the UK, and they still cannot diagnose his condition! So one of the reasons for creating this site was to raise money so that Sean could travel to the best neuologist in the world to receive the best treatment to end his suffering. At this stage Sean is currently unable to walk without the aid of cutches and always has to have someone at his side. But, as Sean says himself, "there are people much more worse off than me. I do not moan about my condition. I am fortunate that the condition I have, although disabling and painful, allows me some semblance of a life. I still have the use of my senses and therefore I can still do some day to day things." As such Sean and his friens Steve White decided that they would create a website so that, if Sean cannot be treated, that at least the money raised would guarantee that Sean be, at the very least, comfortable for the remainder of his life. However after seeing the sudden surge in similar sites Steve and Sean decided to change something within their thinking and also in their reason for building their website. Why not help those who have helped us as well? With this in mind they decided to use some of the space on their website to promote 9 charities every year for 5 years. What they are doing is giving, what would normally cost £10,000, worth of advertsing space to each of 9 preselected charities every 12 months for as long as the site is in operation. So all PixelHeaven need right now are the right people to support them. They are asking for businesses across the UK and possibly the world, to buy space on their website, which links directly to that businesses website, to promote the business in question. "The reason that this site will work is that, out of sheer human curiosity, when web users visit a website and see image displayed that change when they roll their mouse over them and the arrow changes, they click to see "what's behind the door". In this vein, businesses and more importanly the charities, get visitors. When people visit your site they then become more curious about what that business does. This generates prospective customers," says Steve. "Moreover, once that interest is generated, if the visitor likes what they see and it is of benefit to them then they will make enquiries and possibly sales. We are hoping that, by promoting the charities, that visitors to the charities' website will be driven to help that charity." So if you wish to purchase advertising space, at less than the price of a newspaper or telephone directory advert for 5 years, then feel free to visit the website at www.pixelheaven.co.uk or you can enquire for more information by emailing Sean or Steve at mailto:sales@pixelheaven.co.uk "We are hoping that businesses will help us to help others," says Sean.
