How Three Rookies Came to be…
THREE ROOKIES, Starring: Dwayne Carl (Greg Nelson), David Vallin (Eddy Griswald), and Jevocas Green (Rufus Ferguson), is about the lives of 3 down on their luck losers, who by some strange twist of fate, land a job at the Atlanta Police Department. As the story progresses, the three unlikely heroes get mixed up in some crazy dealing s with a diamond thief and two petty crooks (Smitty and O), all the while trying to do what they can to keep their job.
The idea for THREE ROOKIES came about as the brain child of CleAndrew Smith, Founder and CEO of Inc Media Films. Cle Came up with the idea for the movie in November of 2005, after having to go to court. He ran into these three cops in the elevator that were just outrageously funny and interesting. So, he began the concept for the movie. Initially, Cle didn’t want to do films, Inc Media only did wedding photos / videos, music videos, and some commercials. But, as time went on, Film was inevitable. Three Rookies wasn’t the first film he had planned to launch first. His first idea was a film called MISMATCH, a movie about two couples cheating on each other with each other. But the more he told his family and friends about the movie, ideas began to blossom and the movie began taking on a life of its own. Soon he had a finished product that only took him 2 weeks to write! Next, came the casting, he enlisted the help of his mother/casting director Celestine Scott to aid in the city-wide search for the perfect cast. What Cle got was definitely more than he had bargained for. After a rigorous day of auditioning some of the best and most hilarious talent Atlanta had to offer for this project, he finally settled on a cast. And thus, the journey began.
Filming began on Saturday, February 25 and spanned over the course of a week and a half; Definitely a quick hard shooting schedule. He found that with the cast involved, the movie became 10 times funnier than he had ever anticipated and it made doing scenes both fun and hard, due to cast and crew alike trying to hold in their laughter during takes. But the end product was a masterpiece. A lot of hard hitting slapstick and physical comedy made this film all the better. This film will definitely go down in history. It has been compared to being a mixture of Police Academy, Friday, and Reno 911. This movie is definitely well worth seeing.
Also, working on this project and with its multi talented cast has inspired CleAndrew to make a sequel to this sure to be hit. Three Rookies can also be found on www.threerookiesthemovie.com
